SPELT „ROOT“ BREAD
A quick made vegan alternative to common pastries. Ready for every kind of spread or filling.
INGREDIENTS (for 4 pcs)
- 400 g spelt flour (wholemeal)
- 7 g dry yeast
- 125 g vegan cream
- 3-4 tablespoons herbs ( fresh or frozen)
- 200 ml lukewarm water
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- a little bit spelt flour (wholemeal) for sprinkling the dough
PREPARATION
- Mix flour with yeast in a bowl
- Add all other ingredients
- Knead it in your kitchen machine for 1 minute on lowest level and 5 minutes on highest level
- Let the dough rise covered for 1 hour on a warm place
- Preheat the oven to 220° C
- Put a sheet of baking paper on a baking tray
- Don’t knead the already rised dough but sprinkle it with flour
- Remove the dough from the edge of the bowl
- Overthrow the dough on the worktop
- Sprinkle the dough again with flour
- Divide the dough in 4 portions
- Grab each piece on both ends and repeatedly rotated against each other into a 20 cm/7,9” long „root“
- Put the „roots“ on the baking tray and let them rest for 15 minutes
- Bake them for 10 minutes
- Reduce the temperature to 180° C and bake for another 10 minutes
- Let them cool down
- Enjoy!
