JACKFRUITS WITH BEANS
A simple meal, vegan, which gives you an amazing taste experience: Jackfruit – a much acclaimed substitution to meat. In this receipe a tasty combination with ‘classic’ beans.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 can young green jackfruit in water or brine (not syrup)
- 1 onion
- 1 can kidney beans
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 3 tablespoons paprika paste (alternative 3 teaspoons paprika powder)
- garlic powder to your taste
- salt
- pepper
- water
- oil to fry
PREPARATION
- Rinse the Jackfruit under running water and let it drain
- cut the onion in little pieces
- heat the oil in a pan and roast the onion gently.
- Add the Jackfruit and sear it.
- Add the beans
- Stir in tomato paste and paprika paste.
- Flavor it with garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Simmer it for 40 minutes.
- Stir occasionally and probably add some water.
- Season to taste.
- Serve it with bread.
