VEGAN GRILLED SAUSAGE
I found this vegan recipe in the book „Wurst & Käse vegan selbst gemacht” written by Hildegard Möller and adapted it for my own needs and taste.
INGREDIENTS (for 4-5 pcs)
- 70 g white tofu ( from the asian market)
- 160 ml cold water
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon Marmite spread
- 1-2 tablespoons marjoram
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon granulated onion
- 2 tablespons granulated garlic
- ½ teaspoon grounded kummel
- ½ teaspoon grounded Pimento
- 1 knife point cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon guar flour
- 100 g gluten powder
PREPARATION
- Cut the tofu in little pieces and put it in a high mixing bowl
- Add water and oil
- Add all other ingredients EXCEPT gluten powder
- puree foamy
- Put the gluten powder in a bowl
- Add the tofu mixture
- Kneat with your hands till you get a flexible dough
- Divide in 4-5 portions
- Form each portion to a sausage and wrap it in aluminum foil ( see the following picture)
- Bring some water in a pot to boil
- Reduce the temperature
- Put the wraped sausages in a steamer basket ( see the following picture)
- Put the basket on the pot and steam the sausage covered for at least 1 hour
- Let the sausages cool down
- Unwrap them
- Broil or roast them
- Enjoy!
